WHO WE ARE - The Dallas Child Abuse Prevention Center, (Tax ID# 75-2400158), was founded in 1992 by 400 volunteers from 13 Dallas area Exchange Clubs.
- It is one of 70 Centers nationwide accredited by the National Exchange Club Foundation for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
OUR MISSION - The mission of the Child Abuse Prevention Center is to break the generational cycle of child abuse.
WHY CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION? - Texas led the nation in child abuse fatalities in 2002, with 206 fatalities. Child abuse occurs at every income level and in every neighborhood.Dallas County led the state in child abuse homicides in 2001 with 31 child deaths. Since 2001, 66 children in Dallas County have died at the hands of an abuser. In 2004, Dallas County investigated 18,589 cases of child abuse in 2004, with 5,518 cases confirmed. As taxpayers, we spend an estimated $31,000 on each abused and neglected child in Texas.
